28.12.2009, singapore

first thing we did in morning was to go to the railway station and buy train tickets to kuala lumpur. as far as we were informed the railway station is situated in the only bad neighborhood in singapore – we didn’t notice anything bad about it… yes it’s next to a two stories highway, but even there the vegetation is soooo overwhelming, that you would rather think of garden eden then of a bad ‘hood. the railway station itself is very old, very small and very unspectacular. so unspectacular that even the local lady on the bus had no idea it existed. no need to say more. I’m very curious about the train though… after the tickets were bought we made our way to the singapore river cruise (included in our topless-tourist-bus-pass) – this was nice…. but the best was yet to come and that was definitely the botanical and orchid garden. OMG. first omg for me being brave to step into the “jungle” (no shit, singapore is one of just a couple of cities in asia having a tropical rain forest inside the city limits) and second and bigger OMG for THE vegetation!!! and the orchids… and and and…. it’s hard to describe these riches, check out the pictures!

after discovering the flora (and some fauna) we hit the orchard road (if you thought that the oxford street in london was the cradle of consumption and capitalism, you were wrong!) for some food and mini-shopping.

exhausted we returned to the hotel to our evening routine: pool – light walk – indian food. dropping dead to bed.
